Exploring History: Our Visit to the Veluthambi Dalawa Memorial Museum
On 4th September 2024, as part of the practical component of EDU 101.3, our English department visited the Veluthambi Dalawa Memorial Museum in Mannady. Our college, comprising six departments, allocated 30 minutes for each department's visit. Our slot was from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Accompanied by our principal, Riju John sir, and Akhil Raj S sir from the Malayalam department, we arrived at the museum. The first sight that caught our attention was the grand statue of Veluthambi Dalawa. The museum, surrounded by a variety of trees, housed an extensive collection of artifacts narrating Kerala's history during British rule. The guide provided a detailed account of Veluthambi Dalawa's bravery and his fight against British oppression as a common man. This field visit was an enriching experience, offering us deeper insights into Veluthambi Dalawa's legacy and the historical context of British rule in Kerala. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with our heritage and history.
